Harrisville Designs: Shetland / Highland
Originally named after yarns commonly produced in Scotland for their similar structure, these core yarns at Harrisville are spun from a mix of different wools (not Shetland wool, though). Even so, they’re delightfully crunchy and wear beautifully, making them an American knitting classic.
Fingering // 217 yd, 50 g (or in 900 yd, 1/2 lb. unwashed cones)
Worsted // 200 yd, 100 g (or in 450 yd, 1/2 lb. unwashed cones)
Harrisville Designs: Shear
This limited-release yarn focuses on specific ranchers who work with CVM and Romeldale sheep in Idaho and Oregon. I love that Harrisville is actively pursuing special breeds like this for limited edition runs and immediately snatched up a sweater lot. I have no idea how long this yarn will be available.
DK // 320 yd, 100 g
Harrisville Designs: FlyWHEEL, WATERshed, TURBINE
The yarns in this collection are created to help support Harrisville’s hydropower project for the future: returning the mill back to hydropower and a clean, local energy resource. These richly heathered colors have fantastic depth and come in so many wearable colorways.
Sport // 170 yd, 50 g
Worsted // 110 yd, 50 g
Bulky // 110 yd, 100 g
Harrisville Designs has several other yarns I love and adore, but have not yet documented for this page. You can check them out here.
